2016 Concert Program (PDF)

I am happy to announce our 36th season of summer concerts in our parks.
This year, we will once again perform beautiful classical music of the great masters, including Vivaldi, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Enesco, and more.

We will return to Cathedral Park, Laurelhurst Park, Peninsula Park, U.S. Grant Park and to the amphitheater at Washington Park.  You can again listen to up-lifting symphonic music and enjoy the fragrance of roses from the Rose Garden. You can watch children dance to our music and play along with the orchestra in the Toy Symphony by Joseph Haydn.

Best of all. IT IS FREE.

As this is my last year as Music Director of the Portland Festival Symphony, I want to express my gratitude for the support of the community which has made all these concerts possible.
Next year I will become Music Director Emeritus and will work diligently to help Portland Festival Symphony keep the music playing in our parks.  Parks with no music playing is like a tree with no birds singing.
I am happy to announce that Portland Festival Symphony will have a new Music Director, currently Music Director Designate Gregory Vajda, former Resident Conductor of the Oregon Symphony. Gregory is a fine musician.

Thank you and keep supporting Portland Festival Symphony!

Lajos Balogh
